The Fire Prevention Code (Part Sixteen of these Codified Ordinances) shall be enforced by the Bureau of Fire Prevention in the Township, which is hereby established and which shall be operated under the supervision of the Fire Marshal.

The Bureau of Fire Prevention shall consist of the Fire Marshal, who shall be in charge of the Bureau and who shall serve as the chief enforcement officer, and, in addition, not more than two Assistant Fire Marshals.

The Council shall appoint a Fire Marshal for the Township. The first appointee to the office of Fire Marshal shall serve until the first Monday in January, 1970. All succeeding appointees to the office of Fire Marshal shall be appointed for and shall serve for a term of one year until the first Monday in January of each succeeding year.

Council shall appoint not more than two Assistant Fire Marshals. The first appointee or appointees to the office of Assistant Fire Marshal shall serve until the first Monday in January, 1970. All succeeding appointees to the office of Assistant Fire Marshal shall be appointed for and shall serve for a term of one year until the first Monday in January of each succeeding year.

A report of the Bureau of Fire Prevention shall be made annually and transmitted to the Council and shall contain all proceedings under the Fire Prevention Code, with such statistics as the Bureau may wish to include therein. The Fire Marshal shall also recommend any amendments to the Code, which, in his or her judgment, shall be desirable.

The Fire Marshal and the Assistant Fire Marshal shall serve without compensation except such as may be fixed by the Council.
