Except as to vehicles for which other provisions are made under
the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, no person shall abandon
any vehicle at any place within the Town, and no person shall leave
any vehicle at any place within the Town for such time and under such
circumstances as to cause it to reasonably appear that such vehicle
has been abandoned.
Except as to vehicles for which other provisions are made under
the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, no person shall leave
any partially dismantled, wrecked, junked, nonoperative or discarded
vehicle upon any street or other public ground in the Town, or upon
any private property therein, without the permission of the Chief
of Police or their designee or the owner or lessee of said property.
No person in charge or control of any land or premises in the
Town, whether as owner, occupant, lessee or otherwise, shall allow
any partially or totally dismantled, wrecked, junked, nonoperative,
discarded or unregistered vehicles or trucks to remain on such property
longer than 10 days; except if said vehicle is in an enclosed building
or in an area unexposed to the view of the public or any abutters;
a vehicle on the premises of a business enterprise operated in a lawful
place and manner when necessary to the operation of such business
enterprise; a vehicle stored or parked pursuant to a written permit
issued at the discretion of the Chief of Police or their designee
after due investigation and hearing by the Chief of Police or their
designee; a vehicle upon an area properly licensed under Chapter 140
of the General Laws; or a vehicle in an appropriate storage place
or depository maintained by the Town with the consent of the Town.
In no event will an unregistered, unsightly vehicle be permitted to
be stored in a front yard.
