There is hereby created a board consisting of seven (7) members
which shall include the Public Works Director, a City Councilman,
and five (5) citizens appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the
City Council, which shall be known and is designated as the Building
Code Advisory Board.

A. Qualifications. Members of the Building Code Advisory Board
shall be residents of the Farmington R-VII School District.
B. Term Of Members. Members of the Building Code Advisory Board
shall hold their respective office from the first (1st) of June following
their appointment. They shall be appointed for a term of three (3)
years. Upon the creation of the Board, one (1) citizen shall be appointed
for an initial one (1) year term; two (2) citizens for a two (2) year
term; and two (2) citizens for a three (3) year term.
C. Tenure. Members of the Building Code Advisory Board shall
serve at the pleasure of the City Council and may be removed by the
Mayor with the consent of the City Council.
D. Vacancies. Vacancies shall be filled by the Mayor, with
the consent of the City Council, and appointments shall be for the
unexpired term of his/her predecessor.

The Building Code Advisory Board shall conduct regular meetings
as necessary to fulfill the duties and obligations of the Board. The
Building Code Advisory Board shall adopt bylaws consistent with the
intent of this Article.

The Building Code Advisory Board shall elect a Chairman, a Vice
Chairman, and a Secretary to serve a term of one (1) year each. The
names of officers shall be reported to the City Council as soon as
practicable following their appointment.

A. The
Building Code Advisory Board shall act in an advisory capacity to
the City Council and City Administrator to review and recommend technical
codes related to the construction or modification of buildings and
structures in the City of Farmington.
B. The
Building Code Advisory Board may investigate or study any problem
related to the adoption or enforcement of technical codes adopted
by the City.
