The Board of Aldermen shall elect a Clerk for such Board, to
be known as the City Clerk, whose duties and term of office shall
be fixed by ordinance. Among other things, the City Clerk shall keep
a journal of the proceedings of the Board of Aldermen. He/she shall
safely and properly keep all the records and papers belonging to the
City which may be entrusted to his/her care; he/she shall be the general
accountant of the City; he/she is hereby empowered to administer official
oaths and oaths to persons certifying to demands or claims against
the City.

It shall be the duty of the City Clerk, among other things,
to prepare all agendas of all meetings of the Board of Aldermen, to
keep a journal of the proceedings of the Board of Aldermen and all
of its committees, to record all ordinances in a suitable book for
recording ordinances in which the Clerk shall safely and properly
maintain and keep all such ordinances and such other records and documents
belonging to the City which may be entrusted to the care of the Clerk;
the Clerk shall be the general legal custodian of all documents, records
and City Code of the City of Bowling Green, Missouri; the Clerk shall
accurately and completely record all proceedings for the Board of
Aldermen and its various committees; he/she shall bring before the
Board of Aldermen all papers, complaints or other documents received
by him/her for the attention of the Board of Aldermen at their first
(1st) regular meeting following his/her receipt of any such reports,
lists or papers; the Clerk shall perform all other duties required
of a Clerk by State Statute or other ordinances of the City; the Clerk
shall perform all duties as may be, from time to time, ordered by
the Board of Aldermen or the City Administrator; the Clerk is empowered
to administer official oaths for all reasons of the City. Any monies
which may, at any time, come into the hands of the City Clerk and
belonging to the City shall be immediately delivered to the City Treasurer
and the City Clerk shall perform all such other duties as may be requested
of him/her by the City Administrator.

The City Clerk shall be compensated a salary as may be set from
time to time by the Board of Aldermen and in no case shall be entitled
to receive any commissions, fees or percentages of any accounts or
receipts. The bond of the City Clerk shall be in the sum of at least
seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000.00) and for any breach of condition
of any such bond, suit may be instituted thereon by the City, or by
any person in the name of the City of Bowling Green, Missouri, to
the use of such person.
