A. Every
regular full-time employee in the City service having occupied such
position successfully through the probationary period shall be allowed
annual vacation leave with pay. Vacations shall be allowed on the
basis of regularly scheduled hours in the standard work or duty week
to which the employee is assigned at the time of his/her vacation.
Vacation leave allowed shall be calculated as follows to allow for:

During the first year of service

1.54 hours per pay period if paid bi-weekly
3.33 hours per pay period if paid monthly

During the 2 — 5 years of service

B. Vacation
leave shall be taken during the year following its accumulation.
C. The
maximum number of hours of vacation leave an employee may carry from
one (1) year to the next is forty (40) hours.

D. Absence
on account of sickness, injury or disability in excess of that authorized
for such purposes may, at the request of the employee and within the
discretion of the department head, be charged against vacation leave
allowance.
E. Records
of vacation leave allowance and use shall be kept by the person responsible
for the employee's payroll payment. Vacation leave scheduled shall
be in regard to the seniority of employees in accord with operating
requirements and, insofar as possible, with the requests of the employees.
F. When
a regularly scheduled holiday occurs during the period of an employee's
vacation, an additional day of vacation shall be granted.
G. No
two (2) employees shall be allowed vacation leave at the same time,
if both are employed under the same supervisor.
H. All
vacations must be scheduled at least two (2) weeks in advance of the
first (1st) day of vacation leave.
I. Employees
will be allowed to use vacation leave only as accumulated and credited
prior to the employee's account. Employee must take use of the vacation
leave within one (1) year after the anniversary date of its accruement.
Pay in lieu of vacation leave will not be allowed at the end of such
anniversary date for its use.
J. Vacation
leave may be taken one (1) day at a time, minimum.
K. Employees
whose employment with the City is terminated for whatever reason will
receive payment for any accrued vacation time earned providing they
give two (2) weeks' notice of such termination.
