As part of the present rate of compensation provided for each full-time employee as previously set forth by the City Council of Kennett, Missouri, the City may maintain and pay the premiums or a portion thereof on a group hospitalization and life insurance plan in which each employee of the City may be enrolled as a member.

On the first (1st) day of July annually a contract, with a recognized insurance company licensed to underwrite such plans in the State of Missouri, shall be entered into on behalf of the City of Kennett by the City Council to provide coverage for City employees.

The insurance carrier shall be designated by the Council by motion following the receipt of proposals by such insurance companies as offer to underwrite the plan.

A. 
The City of Kennett, Missouri, as a political subdivision as defined in Sections 70.600 through 70.755, RSMo., and said City hereby elects to have covered by the Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement System all its eligible employees in the following classes:
1. 
Present and future general employees (neither "Policemen" nor "Firemen" as defined in the Act);
2. 
Firemen (as defined in the Act);
Present and future Firemen.
3. 
Policemen (as defined in the Act);
Present and future Policemen.

A. 
The City of Kennett, Missouri, hereby elects the following:
1. 
To adopt no change in the contributions from covered employees keeping the requirement of no contributions from covered employees in accordance with the provisions of Sections 70.705 and 70.730, RSMo., as amended.
2. 
To adopt no change in the method of determining a member employee's final average salary, keeping a thirty-six (36) consecutive month period for determining a member employee's final average salary in accordance with Sections 70.600 and 70.656, RSMo., as amended.
3. 
To adopt a change in the Benefit Program of member employees, changing to Benefit Program L-7 (1.50%) in accordance with 70.655, RSMo., as amended.
4. 
To adopt no change in the retirement age provision of member employees, keeping member employees option of retirement upon attaining minimum service retirement age in accordance with Sections 70.600, 70.645 and 70.646, RSMo., as amended.
B. 
The Clerk shall certify this election to the Missouri Local Government Employee's Retirement System within ten (10) days hereof. Such election shall be effective on the first (1st) day of July, 2005.

A. 
The City of Kennett, Missouri, hereby elects to refund any, and all accumulated member contributions to Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement Systems (LAGERS) resulting from employment with the City of Kennett, Missouri, in accordance with Section 70.707, RSMo.
B. 
The City Clerk of the City of Kennett, Missouri, is hereby ordered to certify this election to the Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement System within ten (10) days of the approval of this Article.
C. 
This election shall be effective on the first (1st) day of August, 1993.
