[HISTORY: Adopted by the Village Board of the Village of Churchville 6-5-1997 by L.L. No. 4-1997 (Ch. 88 of the 1984 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
For the purpose of this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
SKATEBOARD
A platform which is mounted on wheels, having no mechanism or other device with which to steer or control the direction of movement thereof while being used, operated or ridden.
A. 
No person shall ride a skateboard anywhere in the Village of Churchville without complying with the terms of this chapter.
B. 
No person shall ride a skateboard upon a sidewalk, parking area or any other public area within the CB, HB or NB Business District as defined in Chapter 250, Zoning, of the Village Code.

C. 
Use on streets. No person shall ride a skateboard on any street. A person wishing to cross a street shall carry the skateboard.
D. 
Use on sidewalks. No person shall ride a skateboard in a reckless manner on any public sidewalk. No person shall ride a skateboard on a sidewalk without exercising due care for the safety of other persons using the sidewalk, and persons riding skateboards shall yield the right-of-way to all pedestrians on said sidewalk.
E. 
Emergence from alleys, driveways and buildings. The operator of a skateboard emerging from an alley, driveway or building shall, upon approaching a sidewalk, yield the right-of-way to all pedestrians approaching on said sidewalk.
No person shall stand, park or otherwise place in a position of temporary storage a skateboard upon a highway, street, sidewalk or against any building abutting a sidewalk in such a manner that shall obstruct or render injury to a pedestrian or interfere with vehicular traffic.
Any commercial establishment in the Village of Churchville selling or renting skateboards shall post a copy of this chapter or a summary of the rules set out in this chapter in a conspicuous place where persons buying or renting skateboards will see it.

Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be punishable as provided in Chapter 1, Article II, General Penalty, of the Village Code.
