As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
BASE COURSE
The granular material placed on the subgrade.
FINE GRADE
Grading to a tolerance of 1/2 inch in 10 feet.
NYSDOT
New York State Department of Transportation.
PLANNING BOARD
The LaFayette Town Planning Board appointed by the LaFayette
Town Board.
RIGHT-OF-WAY
The total width of property to be deeded to the Town; minimum
of 60 feet wide.
ROAD SECTION
The entire area disturbed for highway construction, from
top of slope to the toe of slope, including ditches.
ROADWAY
That portion of the highway included between the outside
edges of the pavement.
SUBGRADE
The bottom of the granular base material.
TESTS
All tests, cores, inspections, etc. mentioned in these specifications
shall be performed without cost to the Town of LaFayette, and written
results of the same shall be filed with the Town.
TOP COURSE
The granular material placed on the base course.
Plans showing original and finished center-line profiles, a
typical cross-section and proposed drainage facilities shall be submitted
to the Town Planning Board and the Town Superintendent of Highways
before final subdivision plat approval can be given. No construction
shall be commenced until such approval has been given.

Anyone who desires to conduct work within the Town's highway
right-of-way is required to complete a highway work permit application
form and obtain a valid highway work permit from the Town's Highway
Department.
