A. 
There is hereby created the position of Senior Payroll and Financial Specialist in the Township of Cranford.
B. 
Under direction, the Senior Payroll and Financial Specialist performs responsible and varied duties involved in the keeping of financial and/or other records of a mathematical nature of limited complexity requiring knowledge of related functions. This position requires handling a high degree of confidential information and is directly supervised by the Assistant Treasurer - Supervising Account Clerk.[1]

C. 
The Senior Payroll and Financial Specialist prepares checks, reviews and certifies reports, applications and other documents for correctness and answers nonroutine and routine inquiries of limited complexity; when so directed, receives, reviews and adjusts complaints; prepares payrolls for all Township employees; calculates payroll deductions and prepares and verifies payrolls; makes bank deposits as required; maintains departmental personnel records and maintains files; enrolls employees in various employee benefit plans; reconciles employee contributions and deductions; processes payments and related reports; makes journal entries, records cash receipts and cash disbursement entries; tabulates needed financial data; prepares and verifies bills; enters orders, requisitions, invoices and payments in the financial management budget system, maintains records of petty cash accounts and verifies and records cash receipts and disbursements; maintains inventory records in preparing reports; composes replies to routine correspondence; occasionally supervises a designated phase of the clerical activity of the unit; prepares requisitions and work orders; looks up needed information; maintains, classifies, indexes and cross-references records and files; and performs related work as needed.
The Senior Payroll and Financial Specialist shall be appointed by the majority vote of the Township Committee and shall serve at the pleasure of the Township Committee.
The Senior Payroll and Financial Specialist shall receive such salary as the Township Committee may fix from time to time by ordinance.
