[HISTORY: Adopted by the Common Council of the City of Monona
as § 2-1-2 of the 1994 Code; amended in its entirety 2-1-2010 by Ord. No. 02-10-611. Subsequent amendments noted where applicable.]
The spring elections for judicial and municipal officers shall
be held on the first Tuesday in April.
The general election prescribed in the Constitution shall be
held on the Tuesday next succeeding the first Monday in November in
even-numbered years.
Candidates for elective City offices shall be nominated by a
nonpartisan primary conducted pursuant to § 8.11, Wis. Stats.
Such candidate shall file with his or her nomination papers a declaration
that he or she will qualify for the office if elected. Nomination
papers shall be signed by electors as required in § 8.10,
Wis. Stats. If the number of candidates for an elective City office
does not exceed two times the number to be elected to such office,
no primary shall be held for such office and the names of such candidates
shall be printed on the official ballot for the ensuing election.
All electors for all elections shall be required to be registered
pursuant to § 6.27, Wis. Stats.
The City Clerk shall have the discretion to hire election officials
to work less than a full day on the day of the election.
