As used in this chapter, the following words shall have the
following meanings:
Includes all structures owned and/or operated by the Township
of Maple Shade and/or occupied by Township employees and/or used for
the conduct of official business of the Township.
Includes all public parks, playgrounds, athletic fields and
parking lots publicly owned by the Township of Maple Shade and all
property owned by the Township upon which the public is invited or
upon which the public is permitted and where individuals gather for
recreational activities, including all areas adjacent to such facilities,
including but not limited to any parking area, driveway or drive aisle.
The burning of, inhaling from, exhaling the smoke from, or
the possession of a lighted cigar, cigarette, pipe or any other matter
or substance which contains tobacco or any other matter that can be
smoked, or the inhaling or exhaling of smoke or vapor from an electronic
smoking device.

Smoking shall be prohibited in the Municipal Building, Police headquarters,
Public Works office, Rescue building, Collins Lane House, clubhouse
at Main Street soccer field and in any other municipal building."
No Smoking" signs or the international no-smoking symbol in accordance
with N.J.S.A. 26:3D-55 shall be posted at the entrance to each municipal
building facility.

Smoking shall be prohibited in all public parks and recreation facilities,
athletic fields, playgrounds, and any other recreational facilities
owned and/or operated by the Township of Maple Shade upon which the
public is invited or upon which the public is permitted and where
individuals gather for recreational and leisure activities, including
all areas adjacent to such facilities, including but not limited to
any parking area, driveway or drive aisle which has been designated
with "No Smoking" signs.

Smoking shall be prohibited in any vehicle registered, owned and
operated by the Township of Maple Shade.
Any person who violates any provision of this chapter shall
be subject to a fine of not less than $250 for the first offense;
$500 for the second offense and $1,000 for each subsequent offense.
In addition, any municipal employee found in violation of this chapter
may also be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the
Township's policies and procedures governing discipline.
The provisions set forth under this chapter shall be enforced
by the Maple Shade Police Department, Code Enforcement Officer or
other official so designated by the Township Manager.
