There is hereby created and established the Warrington Township Historical Commission.
The Warrington Township Historical Commission shall consist of seven members who shall be appointed by the Board of Supervisors of Warrington Township for terms of three years. The original members of the Commission shall serve terms as follows, as determined by the Board of Supervisors: Three of the original Commission members shall be appointed to serve for terms of three years; two of the original Commission members shall be appointed to serve for terms of two years; and two of the original Commission members shall be appointed to serve for a term of one year, or until their successors are appointed.
All members of the Warrington Township Historical Commission shall be residents of Warrington Township and shall serve without compensation other than for such expenses in connection with their duties on said Commission as the governing bodies of Warrington Township shall approve in advance.
A quorum shall consist of a majority of the members currently appointed to the Historical Commission. Action may only be taken by affirmative vote of a majority of a quorum of the Commission.
The Warrington Township Historical Commission shall elect from its members, at the first meeting thereof, and at the annual meeting in January of each and every year thereafter, a Chairperson, Secretary and such other officers as the said Commission may deem necessary, by a majority vote of the members present at such meeting. Written notice of the annual meeting shall be mailed to each member by the Secretary at least five days prior to said meeting. Regular or special meetings shall convene at the call of the Chairperson, or in such other manner as the members may, by a majority vote, designate.
The Warrington Township Historical Commission shall undertake the following functions and responsibilities in connection with advising the Board of Supervisors of Warrington Township in identifying and preserving historical sites, buildings, papers, documents and relics of historical significance to Warrington Township.
A. 
Conduct investigations on historical matters relating to Warrington Township, and report the same for public information.
B. 
Collect and disseminate data and information on matters of historical significance to Warrington Township.
C. 
Publish pamphlets or reports designating the historical sites or buildings of significant value to the history of Warrington Township.
D. 
Make recommendations for suitable plaques or markers to distinguish historical sites and buildings of Warrington Township.
E. 
Cooperate with any qualified historical society in investigations of historical matters relating to Warrington Township.
F. 
Recommend to the Board of Supervisors a suitable depositary and display of historical papers, documents and relics.
G. 
Cooperate with and encourage the activities of interested citizens to the end that such activities will serve the historical interest of Warrington Township.
H. 
When requested by the Board of Supervisors, conduct investigations into the historical significance of any structures or historically significant features shown or affected by any plan of subdivision or land development filed with the Township.
I. 
The Commission may utilize volunteers to assist the Commission members in accomplishing the activities listed above and any other activities that the Commission undertakes.
The Warrington Township Historical Commission, by its Chairperson or by other members appointed for such purpose by the Chairperson, shall make such reports from time to time to the Board of Supervisors of Warrington Township as requested by the Board of Supervisors or as the said Chairperson shall deem advisable.
