There is hereby created the position of special law enforcement officer for the Rochelle Park Police Department.
In order to be appointed a special law enforcement officer, said individual must meet the qualifications as set forth in N.J.S.A. 40A:14-146.10.
The duties of such special law enforcement officers shall be as set forth in the Special Law Enforcement Officers Act[1] as directed by the Police Chief of the Township of Rochelle Park.

The special law enforcement officers shall be paid such wages as shall, from time to time, be established under the appropriate salary ordinance of the Township.[1]

The specific rules and regulations concerning special law enforcement officers shall be promulgated by the Chief of Police and shall be set forth in the general order of the Chief of Police as he or she deems appropriate from time to time which rules and regulations shall be consistent with the provisions of the aforementioned state law.
