Every person operating a motor vehicle upon the streets of the City of Waverly, Missouri, shall operate the same in a careful and prudent manner, exercising the highest degree of care in the operation thereof and shall operate such vehicle at a speed so as not to endanger life or limb or property, and shall operate such vehicle at a speed not in excess of twenty-five (25) miles per hour on all streets in the City of Waverly, Missouri, except at the following locations, where the speed limit shall be as follows:

School Safety Zone

A school safety zone is hereby established on the roadway of West Walnut Street (Hwy 24) from Washington Street to West Street in the City of Waverly, Missouri, in accordance with the following:
The school safety zone will only be enforced when the school safety zone beacons are activated or flashing.
The school safety zone beacon will be flashing from the hours of 7:00 A.M. to 8:30 A.M. and for the hours of 2:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Monday — Friday; or
Santa Fe Elementary School where children will be present for a school sanctioned event.
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle within the school safety zone at a speed greater than twenty-five (25) miles per hour, when the school safety zone beacons are activated or flashing.
The minimum fine to be assessed for any violation of the twenty-five (25) miles per hour speed limit in the school safety zone shall be the standard fine set by the uniform fine schedule and court costs plus an additional twenty-five dollar ($25.00) fine.
