Every lot shall be held subject to the provisions of these bylaws
and rules and regulations presently in force or as amended hereafter.
Lot purchasers will acknowledge receipt of a copy of the cemetery
bylaws of West Stockbridge.
When a lot is purchased, only the right of human burial is secured,
not the land itself.
The Cemetery Commission will set fees for burial sites, registration
fee and site work.
Prior to installation, the Cemetery Commission must approve
the size, kind and placement of stones or monuments. A three-foot
foundation is required under the headstone and footstone placements.
Corner markers are required for all burial lots at the owner's
expense.
No plantings shall be made on any lot without permission of
the Cemetery Commission. The Commission reserves the right to remove
any previous, present or future plantings which are detrimental, dangerous
or inconvenient, in the judgment of the Commission, at the owner's
expense.
Tree plantings within Town cemeteries are strictly prohibited.
Existing trees whose roots interfere with cemetery plots and/or disturbing
stone placements will be removed, at the owner's expense.
Motorcycles, motorbikes, motor scooters, snowmobiles, dogs and horses are prohibited unless on official business; cemetery speed limit is 15 miles per hour. Cemetery hours shall be from 8:00 a.m. to sunset. Anyone convicted of a violation of this restriction shall be subject to the penalties set forth in Chapter
1, Article
II, of the Town Code.
Lots or parts thereof may not be resold, but may be repurchased
by the Town. All sales must have Cemetery Commission approval.
The Cemetery Commission is in charge of all matters pertaining
to the management of the cemetery grounds and the Commission may make
additional rulings as deemed expedient in contingencies.
No work of any kind may be done on the grounds without approval
of the Chairman or the Cemetery Commission in the absence of the Chairman.
Dumping of refuse or garbage on or adjacent to Town cemeteries is prohibited. Anyone convicted of a violation of this prohibition shall be subject to the penalties set forth in Chapter
1, Article
II, of the Town Code.
