A. A certain
document, one (1) copy of which is on file in the office of the City
Clerk of the City of Portageville, Missouri, being marked and designated
as "The Basic Housing Code, Second Edition, 1970" as published by
the Building Officials Conference of America, Inc., be and is hereby
adopted as the Housing Code of the City of Portageville, Missouri,
for the control of buildings and structures as herein provided; and
each and all of the regulations of the Basic Housing Code, Second
Edition, 1970, are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part thereof,
as if fully set out in this Article.
B. Upon
conviction of a violation of any provision of the Code above-referenced,
the violator shall be punished by a fine not to exceed five hundred
dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment in the City or County Jail for
not exceeding ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Each day that a violation continues shall be deemed a separate offense.

A. Section H-323.8 shall from July 6, 1993, read as follows: Every door
available as an exit shall be capable of being opened from the inside
easily and without the use of a key. Each residential building shall
be equipped with a minimum of two (2) separate exit doorways to the
outside.
B. All commercial buildings in the City of Portageville, Missouri, from
July 6, 1993, shall be required to be equipped with and maintain a
minimum of two (2) separate exit doorways to the outside.
