A. 
Except as otherwise provided herein, it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to exercise a livelihood, carry on or engage in any business, occupation, profession, trade, agency or calling within the City of LaGrange without obtaining a license therefore from the City Clerk at the charge of fifty dollars ($50.00) per year.
B. 
The provisions of this Section shall not apply to any person, firm or corporation following for a livelihood the profession or calling of minister of the gospel, duly accredited Christian Science practitioner, teacher, professor in a college, priest, lawyer, certified public accountant, dentist, chiropractor, optometrist, chiropodist, physician or surgeon.
C. 
The provisions of this Section shall not apply to any person, firm or corporation following for a livelihood the profession of insurance agent or broker, veterinarian, architect, professional engineer, land surveyor, auctioneer, real estate broker or real estate salesman, if such person, firm or corporation does not maintain a business office within the City of LaGrange.
D. 
The license charge provided in this Section shall not apply to a person employed by a firm or corporation, but such person employed by a firm or corporation shall not exercise, carry on or engage in any such business, occupation, profession, trade, agency or calling within the City of LaGrange until the firm or corporation employing such person has obtained the license provided in this Section.
E. 
Nothing in this Section shall be construed to create or constitute a liability to or a cause of action against the City of LaGrange in regard to the issuance or non-issuance of any license pursuant to this Section.

Every person, firm or corporation to whom a license is issued shall keep the same conspicuously posted or displayed at their place of business.

All licenses granted hereunder shall extend to the first day of January next following the date of issuance. No license granted hereunder shall be transferable.

A. 
No application for business license shall be granted and no business license shall be issued to a merchant except after satisfactory completion and approval of the City’s business license application form. Incomplete applications, may be the basis for license denial.
B. 
No application for business license shall be granted and no business license shall be issued to any merchant having any delinquent taxes, fees or assessments, lawfully imposed by the State, County or City by ordinance or otherwise.
C. 
Any person, firm or corporation violating the provision of this Chapter shall be fined not less than ten dollars ($10.00) nor more than one hundred dollars ($100.00), and each day of violation shall constitute a separate violation. The remedies provided in this Section are in addition to all other remedies provided by law or ordinance.
