There is hereby created and established the "Municipal Court of the Town of Westfield" pursuant to Chapter
8 of Title 2A of the Revised Statutes, with all the powers, rights, duties and privileges which may be conferred upon it by law.

The Municipal Court shall have a seal, the imprint of which
shall bear on the outer circumference the words "Municipal Court of
the Town of Westfield" and on the inner circle thereof shall be the
words "Union County, New Jersey."

The Municipal Court shall consist of a judge to be known as
the municipal Magistrate, who shall preside over the court and shall
possess such qualifications and be subject to such restrictions as
required by law.

The Magistrate of the Municipal Court shall be appointed by
the Town Council to serve for a period of three years or until his
successor is appointed and qualified.

The Town Council shall appoint a suitable person as Clerk of
the Municipal Court, who shall be compensated for his services in
such manner as may be approved by the Town Council by resolution or
ordinance.
