The office of Village Justice for the Village of Clinton is
hereby abolished.
This article shall take effect upon the expiration of the current
term of the present Village Justice on 12:01 p.m. on April 1, 1996,
unless petitions demanding a permissive referendum are properly, duly
and timely filed, in which case, said article shall take effect upon
approval of the electorate of the Village of Clinton and filing with
the Secretary of State, but in no case prior to 12:01 p.m. on April
1, 1996.
