This chapter shall be known and cited as the "Fire Prevention
Code." It is the intent of this code to prescribe regulations consistent
with nationally recognized good practices for the safeguarding to
a reasonable degree of life and property from the hazards of fire
and explosion arising from the storage, handling and use of hazardous
substances, materials and devices and from conditions hazardous to
life or property in the use or occupancy of buildings or premises.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
FIRE PREVENTION CODE
The regulations found in Chapter
54 of the Municipal Code, together with the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code.
OPERATING PERMIT
A permit issued pursuant to §
54-7 of this chapter. The term "operating permit" shall also include an operating permit which is renewed, amended or extended pursuant to any provision of this chapter.
UNIFORM CODE
The New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code,
as currently in effect and as hereafter amended.
The New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code
shall be applicable as promulgated by the New York State Building
Code Commission pursuant to Article 18 of the New York Executive Law
(as added by Chapter 707 of the Laws of 1981) and is hereby made a
part of the Municipal Code of the City of Rochester.
