The Town of Putnam hereby adopts the provisions of Chapter 43 of the Connecticut General Statutes, Revision of 1949, as amended,[1] for the purpose of exercising through a Town Zoning Commission the powers granted thereunder.

The Town Zoning Commission shall consist of the three Selectmen, ex officio, and two electors of the Town to be appointed by the Board of Selectmen for respective terms of two years, from the second Monday in October in the odd-numbered years. At least one of such electors to be appointed by the Selectmen shall reside in the Town of Putnam outside of the limits of the City of Putnam.

Pursuant to the authority granted by Section 8-1b of the Connecticut General Statutes, the Board of Selectmen or a majority thereof are to appoint three alternate members to the Zoning Commission. One such alternate member shall serve for one year to the second Monday of October 1977; one for two years to the second Monday of October 1978; and one for three years to the second Monday of October 1979; and thereafter each new alternate member shall be appointed for a term of three years. All such terms shall commence upon appointment.
