There is hereby created and established the office of Chief Financial Officer. The Chief Financial Officer shall hold office for a term of three (3) years.
The appointed person shall carry out the responsibilities set forth under P.L. 1947, c. 151 (N.J.S.A. 52:27BB-26 et seq.) and such other responsibilities as may, from time to time, be defined by statute or regulation pursuant to statute.
The Chief Financial Officer shall be paid a salary of a range to be established from time to time by the Board of Commissioners. If the appointed individual also holds the position of Municipal Clerk and/or Municipal Treasurer, the salary may be a combined salary for all positions.
A Chief Financial Officer who has served in that position for a period of not less than five (5) consecutive years and is the holder of a Municipal Finance Officer Certificate, or an acceptable substitute of experience as provided by statute, shall be granted tenure upon filing with the Clerk of the Municipality and with the Division of Local Government Services in the Department of Community Affairs a notification evidencing his or her compliance.
The effective date of this Article VII shall be immediately upon final passage and publication according to law.
