A. Powers and duties of the Office of Senior and Social Services. The
Office of Senior and Social Services shall:
(1) Provide social services for eligible residents and initiate action
to help clients obtain an adequate standard of living and become self-supporting.
(2) Maintain and protect all records and appropriate documents required
by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.
B. Duties of the Director of Senior and Social Services. The duties
of the Director of Senior and Social Services shall be as set forth
in N.J.S.A. 44:8-118 and, as follows:
(1) Serve as the Senior Citizen Liaison and Secretary for the Mayor's
Senior Advisory Board;
(2) Assist individuals with Medicare and Medigap insurance as a certified
SHIP Counselor;
(3) Serve as a member of the Board of Directors for Sienna Village at
Wayne and Edward Sisco Village;
(4) Serve as Wayne's representative to the Passaic County Senior Advisory
Council;
(5) Represent Wayne on the Passaic County Citizens Advisory Committee's
Transportation System;
(6) Develop and update the "Mayor's Handbook of Tradespeople" and "Resource
Guide" for Seniors;
(7) Provide information and referral resource for all senior services;
(8) Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Mayor or Business
Administrator.
