"The street area to be constructed shall be excavated by the
Contractor to the depth of the proposed Subgrade as set. The equipment
shall then reshape the subgrade to a uniform level surface.

The Contractor shall roll the subgrade material with a ten-ton
three-wheeled roller, until the surface is thoroughly compacted as
a subgrade for the surface to be placed.

After the completion of the subgrade, Pennsylvania Department
of Transportation Specification RT-2-C Tar Primer shall be applied
at the rate of 1/2 gallon per square yard.

STONE
|
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Specification Coarse
Aggregate No. 3A shall be spread on the prepared subgrade to a depth
of five inches and lightly roll with a ten-ton three-wheeled roller.
After the aggregate has been spread and rolled all irregularities
shall be corrected and then Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
Specification No. 2 stone shall be spread to fill the voids and keyed
together with the coarse aggregate.

FIRST APPLICATION OF BITUMINOUS BINDER
|
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Specification Type
E-3 Asphaltic Emulsion shall be applied on the prepared surface at
the rate of 1.85 gallons per square yard, with a pressure distributor.
Immediately cover with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Specification
No. 1-B stone for filling voids and surface finish which shall be
spread in a quantity sufficient to completely fill the remaining voids.
Rolling and adding stone chips shall continue until the entire mass
is thoroughly keyed together and there is a light excess of stone
chips on the surface.

SECOND APPLICATION OF BITUMINOUS BINDER
|
Asphalt Cement, Type E-3 Asphaltic Emulsion shall be applied
at the rate of 1/2 gallon per square yard, with a pressure distributor
and shall be immediately covered with 1/4 inch chips. Brooming and
rolling shall then/continue until the pavement is thoroughly compacted.

SEAL COAT
|
Asphalt Cement, Type E-3, Asphaltic Emulsion shall be applied
upon the above described surface, at the rate of 1/2 gallon per square
yard and shall be covered with a light application of rice chips and
rolled thoroughly."
