The purpose of this section is to establish policies and procedures for the collection of fees associated with the performance of marriage or civil unions by the Mayor.
a. 
Fee. Persons seeking to be married or joined in civil union by the Mayor of the Borough of New Milford shall remit the applicable fee delineated below to be paid to the Borough of New Milford.
1. 
Residents of New Milford: $50.00
2. 
Nonresidents of New Milford: $75.00
3. 
An administrative fee of $25 shall be added to the above established fees.
Notwithstanding the delineated fee schedule, the Mayor may, in his sole and absolute discretion waive the applicable fee.

a. 
Establishment of Policy. There is hereby established by and within the Borough of New Milford a section setting forth policies and procedures concerning the compensation and/or reimbursement of reasonable expenses incurred by the mayor in connection with the performance of wedding and civil union ceremonies.
b. 
Procedure Required. Fees for compensation and/or reimbursement of appropriate expenses, may be disbursed to the Mayor in accordance with the Borough's established procedures for reimbursement, including submission of a voucher with receipts documenting the expenses.
c. 
Eligible Persons. The Borough shall compensate the Mayor as an additional fixed salary payment of $100 for each wedding or civil union ceremony performed and/or reimburse only proper and reasonable expenses incurred directly by and for the Mayor. Under no circumstances shall the Borough reimburse expenses or expenditures on behalf of or as a result of any spouse, child, guest or other person.
d. 
Limitation on Expenses. The Borough shall be obligated to reimburse only those expenses which are reasonable in nature, as determined by the Business Administrator, and related to the purpose of officiating at the wedding or civil union ceremony.
