[Amended 9-12-95 by Ord. No. 495]
Any street or portion thereof in the Borough of Woodstown may
be closed to motor vehicle traffic on any day or days during specified
hours as determined by the Mayor in consultation with Council. The
Mayor's determination shall be evidenced in a regulation setting
forth the hours of closure and the particular portion of the street
or streets affected.
[Amended 9-12-95 by Ord. No. 495]
An application for closing must be made in writing at least
six weeks prior to the date requested. The Mayor shall advise Council
of the request and consult with them to determine whether such closing
is necessary for the preservation of public safety, health or welfare.
Once a determination is made, this determination shall be placed in
the minutes of a regular Council meeting, and the applicant shall
be notified in writing of the Mayor's decision. The original
determination, in the form of a regulation, shall be submitted to
the New Jersey Department of Transportation for its approval. The
regulation shall specify the location for proper warning signs, the
particular street or portion of a street that will be closed, and
the hours of closure.
Any person violating this chapter or any regulations promulgated
pursuant to this chapter shall be subject to a fine not to exceed
$500.
