There shall be a Department of Fire, the head of which shall
be the Volunteer Fire Chief, who shall be appointed by the Mayor,
with the recommendation of the city's volunteer fire companies and
with the advice and consent of the Council.
There shall be a Division of Fire, the head of which shall be
the Volunteer Fire Chief. The Division shall consist of the volunteer
fire companies as have heretofore been or may hereafter be organized.
The Division shall conduct its operations in accordance with state
laws and local ordinances.
There shall be a Division of Fire Prevention, the head of which
shall be the Fire Official. The Division shall enforce the Uniform
Fire Safety Act (N.J.S.A. 52:27D-192 et seq.) and shall perform all
inspection and enforcement activities required under any other fire
laws, codes and regulations previously adopted or subsequently adopted
by the City of South Amboy.
