Appointment. There shall be appointed a Housing Authority of the City of South Amboy consisting of seven members who shall be appointed. The governing body shall appoint five Commissioners of the authority and the Mayor shall appoint one Commissioner. The Commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs shall appoint one Commissioner.
Term of office. The Commissioners first appointed shall be designated to serve the following terms: one for a term of one year; one for a term of two years; one for a term of three years; one for a term of four years; two for terms of five years; and they shall serve until their respective successors are appointed and have qualified. After the initial appointment, Commissioners so appointed shall hold office for terms of five years.
Vacancies. All vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term.
Powers. The organization, powers and duties of the Housing Authority was originally established under the Local Housing Authorities Law, N.J.S.A. 55:14A-1 et seq. See N.J.S.A. 40A:12, Redevelopment and Housing Law.
