There is hereby created the South Amboy Arts Commission, consisting
of 11 members, all appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent
of the City Council, and all of whom shall be residents of the City
of South Amboy, selected on the basis of their qualifications and
fitness for service.

The Arts Commission shall provide a community vehicle for the
expansion of the arts and community activities related to the arts
within the City of South Amboy, shall foster and encourage economic
development of the South Amboy Arts District within the context of
preservation and rehabilitation of our buildings and properties, shall
enhance tourism development of the South Amboy Arts District, and
shall make a continuing study and survey of the status of the arts
within the City and report its findings to the Mayor and City Council
annually, or more often if desirable, and make recommendations to
the Mayor and City Council as to encouraging the expansion of the
arts within the City generally, and within the South Amboy Arts District
specifically.

Four members initially shall be appointed for a term lasting
from the date of appointment until December 31, 2020; four members
shall be appointed for a term lasting from the date of appointment
until December 31, 2021; and three members initially shall be appointed
for a term lasting from the date of appointment until December 31,
2022. All subsequent terms thereafter shall be for a period of three
years. Vacancies shall be filled for unexpired terms only.

The Commission shall designate one of its members to serve as
its Chairperson and presiding officer and may designate such other
officers as it may deem necessary.

Members shall serve without compensation.

A majority of the whole number of regular members shall constitute
a quorum.

The Commission shall annually submit specific budget requests
to the Mayor for review and recommendation to the Township Council
for consideration and determination. The Commission shall also work
cooperatively with such non-profit organizations having tax-exempt
status as may be approved by the City Council for purposes of achieving
its goals through ticket sales, admissions, sponsorships, sales of
merchandise and concessions, vendor fees, and grants for which such
designated non-profit organizations may apply and be awarded, and
for such other additional related earned or contributed revenue as
may be appropriate.
