There is hereby established and hereby confirmed the position of Borough Mechanic of the Borough of Emerson, who shall have the responsibilities and perform the duties herein set out.
A. 
The Borough Mechanic shall provide general maintenance to any and all vehicles owned by the Borough of Emerson, including but not limited to vehicles of the Department of Municipal Services, Police Department, Fire Department, Ambulance Corps. and Office of Emergency Management.

B. 
The Borough Mechanic shall make any and all repairs to vehicles owned by the Borough of Emerson as heretofore stated.
C. 
The Borough Mechanic shall be a member of the Department of Municipal Services and, in addition to his/her duties as Borough Mechanic, he/she shall perform such other services and duties that are required of him by the Superintendent of the Department of Municipal Services.
D. 
The Borough Mechanic shall perform such other duties that are required of him by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Emerson.

The salary for this position shall be fixed from time to time by the Mayor and Council and set forth in the Borough's annual Salary Ordinance.[1]

The employee who fills this position shall be entitled to such benefits, in addition to salary, as the Mayor and Council shall grant in the appropriate ordinance of the Borough.
The term of the office first appointed under this article shall commence upon the effective date of this article.
