For the purpose of this chapter, the following words and phrases
shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section:
TAXICAB
Any automobile or motor car engaged in the business of carrying
passengers for hire which is held out, announced or advertised to
operate on and over the public streets or highways of the Township,
including limousines, and particularly accepts and discharges persons
who may offer themselves for transportation from place to place within
or without the Township.
TAXICAB DRIVER'S LICENSE
The permission granted by the Township to a person to drive
a taxicab on the streets of the Township.
TAXICAB LICENSE
Permission granted by the Township to the owner of a taxicab
to operate that vehicle or cause it to be operated as a taxicab in
the Township.
No person shall operate a taxicab or engage in the taxicab business
within the Township without first obtaining a license from the Township
Clerk. The license shall expire December 31 of the year in which it
was issued, unless sooner suspended or revoked by the Township Manager.
The Township Council shall, from time to time, make rules and
regulations for the operation of taxicabs.
The Township Manager may, after due notice and hearing, suspend or revoke the license of any person who violates any provision of this chapter or who violates any of the rules or regulations adopted by the Township Council pursuant to §
326-6.
