Neither the City of Wright City, the Wright City Police Department,
nor any employee or agent thereof removing or having custody of abandoned
property or derelict vehicle(s) lawfully removed pursuant to this
Chapter shall be liable for any damage to such vehicle occasioned
by such removal unless otherwise provided by law.
Nothing contained in this Chapter shall be deemed to prohibit
the following:
A. The storage of motor vehicles in a completely covered enclosure for
which a building permit has been issued by the Building Commissioner
which has been constructed and erected pursuant to the provisions
of the Building Code of the City of Wright City, and which complies
with the Nuisance Code of the City of Wright City.
B. The parking of any motor vehicles in areas designated and approved
by ordinance or resolution of the Board of Aldermen as areas for parking
pursuant to the Traffic Code of the City of Wright City.
C. The keeping of any motor vehicle in temporary disrepair for the purpose
of repairs by any automobile repair shop or motor vehicle dealer licensed
as such by the City of Wright City.
No person shall deny access to a member of Law Enforcement,
City of Wright City Official, or any authorized agent thereof, lawful
entry, which may require such member of Law Enforcement, City Official,
or authorized agent thereof to seek and obtain a warrant from a Court
of competent jurisdiction, to any property upon which is located abandoned
property or one (1) or more derelict vehicles violating this Chapter
or State law, nor shall any person interfere with a member of Law
Enforcement, City of Wright City Official, or any authorized agent
thereof engaged in the lawful removal of abandoned property or one
(1) or more derelict vehicles pursuant to this Chapter or State law.
Any person, firm, or other legal entity causing the presence of abandoned property or one (1) or more derelict motor vehicles within the City of Wright City, or in any other way violating any provision(s) of this Chapter shall, upon conviction, be deemed guilty of an offense and be punished as provided in Section
100.220 of the Wright City Municipal Code.
