This article may also be referred to as the "Hilzinger Block Building Historic District Ordinance."
The purpose of this article is to provide for the preservation and/or rehabilitation of the historic site known as the "Hilzinger Block Building Historic District," Royal Oak, Michigan, also known more specifically as:
A. 
Assessor's Plat No. 20 south 0.30 feet of east 49.5 feet of Lot 1 of Lot 4, excluding the north 2 feet of the east 29 feet of the west 60.5 of S.D. Lot 4.
B. 
Assessor's Plat No. 20 Lot 4; Blk. 325-21-231-013.
The Royal Oak City Commission determines that the property described above is eligible for local historic designation under the guidelines established by Article I, Historic District Study Committee, of this chapter, as amended.
The Royal Oak City Commission hereby designates the property described in § 82-41 as an historic district pursuant to Article I, Historic District Study Committee, of this chapter, as amended.
The owner or owners of the property or portions of the property described in § 82-41 are required to apply for and obtain a certificate of appropriateness before commencing any work in the historic site. When considering an application, the Historic District Commission will be guided by the standards for rehabilitation set forth by the United States Secretary of the Interior at 26 CFR Part 67 and Article II, Historic District Commission, of this chapter.
