The purpose of this article is to provide for the preservation and/or rehabilitation of the historic site at 404 South Pleasant Street.

The property consists of Lots 251, 252, and 253 of the Meadow Park Addition in the City of Royal Oak, with one building, the Royal Oak Woman's Club. The property is designated with Sidwell Number: 25-21-210-014 (Section 21, Block Number 210, Parcel Number 14). The parcel is located in the west half of the northeast quarter of Section 21, T1N, R11E.
The Royal Oak City Commission hereby determines that the property owned by the Royal Oak Woman's Club at 404 South Pleasant Street is eligible for local historic designation under the guidelines established by Article I of this chapter, Historic District Study Committee, as amended.
The Royal Oak City Commission hereby designates the property owned by the Royal Oak Woman's Club at 404 South Pleasant Street as an historic district pursuant to Article I of this chapter, as amended.
The owner of the property at 404 South Pleasant Street is required to apply for and obtain a certificate of appropriateness before commencing any work on the historic site. When considering an application, the Historic District Commission will be guided by the standards for rehabilitation set forth by the United States Secretary of the Interior.
