Electrical equipment, wiring and appliances shall be properly installed and maintained in a safe and approved manner.
Every habitable space in a dwelling shall contain at least three separate and remote receptacle outlets. Every laundry area shall contain not less than one grounding-type receptacle or a receptacle with a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) or with a GFCI protected outlet when located within six feet of a water source. Every bathroom shall contain at least one receptacle equipped with a ground fault circuit interrupter. Kitchen outlets within six feet of a water source must be GFCI protected outlets. Any outlet within six feet of a water source on in a wet/damp location must be GFCI protected. All receptacle outlets shall have the appropriate faceplate cover for the location.
Exception: Three separate and remote receptacle outlets are not required in bedrooms which contain a fixed (permanently installed wired) ceiling light and has central heating and air-conditioning. Two outlets would suffice in such bedrooms.
Every public hall, interior stairway, toilet room, kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, boiler room and furnace room shall contain not less than one electric luminaire. Pool and spa luminaires over 15 V shall have ground fault circuit interrupter protection.
Flexible cords shall not be used for permanent wiring, or for running through doors, windows, or cabinets, or concealed within walls, floors, or ceilings.
