The Committee shall consist of seven regular members and three alternate
members, all of whom shall be electors of the Town appointed by the
Mayor with the approval of the Town Council.
Four of the initial regular members and one alternate member shall
serve for one year, and three regular members and two alternate members
shall serve for two years. Thereafter regular and alternate members
shall serve two-year terms.
The Committee shall meet monthly, adopt rules and regulations for
the conduct of its meetings, shall elect a Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary
on an annual basis and may promulgate and adopt bylaws.
Promote and advance the preservation, protection, sustainability,
development and maintenance of the Riverfront District and its connections
to the Village Center and other parts of town, as a vital area of
New Milford's economic, cultural and visitor activity.
In coordination with Town agencies and the Corporation for New Milford
Economic Development, implement the Town-adopted Riverfront Renewal
Master Plan.
Engage with residents and the business community to achieve broad
support and use of the riverfront through activities and education.
The Committee may cooperate with, sponsor and assist any privately
operated or sponsored recreational activity.
Promote and facilitate marketing and other programs that focus on
the riverfront to increase visitors and awareness of the riverfront
in conjunction with the appropriate municipal agencies.
