If an animal bites a person or another animal, the owner or
person in control of the biting animal must provide his or her personal
information to the victim or, if the victim is another animal, the
victim’s owner. If the victim is a minor, the owner or person
in control of the biting animal must provide his or her personal information
to the parent or guardian of the minor. This personal information
must include the owner’s name, the biting animal’s name,
and the owner and animal’s home address.

The period of quarantine shall be that time necessary to determine
whether or not the animal in question has rabies.

In the event the animal control officer determines that the
animal which has been quarantined has rabies, he shall cause such
animal to be destroyed. The animal owner shall be responsible for
paying for all fees related to destruction of the animal and the testing
for rabies.

In the event a quarantined animal has been impounded and is
determined not to have rabies, the animal control center may allow
the owner to redeem said animal upon the payment of any fees required
pursuant to Section 6.20.060 of the Placer County Code.
