It is the purpose of this chapter to establish procedures for
the naming of City streets.

Upon noticed, public hearing, the City Council may adopt by
resolution a street name for a new street or a renaming of a street.
Upon the adoption of a resolution in accordance with the procedures
of this chapter, the City Clerk shall promptly mail a copy of the
resolution to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
At each signal controlled intersection on a City street, there
shall be a street name sign or signs that clearly and visibly announce
the name of the street to approaching traffic.
