The City’s preferred shipping and handling term is FOB
destination (Grand Junction).
(Res. 04-12 (§ 6.1), 1-16-12)
FOB destination means the vendor maintains title for the goods
until the purchaser receives them. The vendor pays the shipping costs
and is responsible for claims against the carrier.
(Res. 04-12 (§ 6.2), 1-16-12)
Accepting a quote of FOB origin has consequences for the City
if the shipment is lost or damaged. FOB origin means the purchaser
accepts title to the goods from the moment they are picked up by the
carrier. The purchaser pays shipping costs and is responsible for
claims against the carrier.
