There is hereby created the position of Clerk
Stenographer in the Township of Lacey.
The duties of the Clerk Stenographer are that
under direction she/he takes and transcribes dictation and performs
routine, repetitive and noncomplex clerical work of a varied nature
and does related work as required. She/he takes and transcribes dictation
consisting of letters, memoranda and other statements following prescribed
procedures; types a wide variety of material from pencil copy, rough
notes and detailed instructions, such as correspondence, forms, memoranda,
lists and reports; distributes mail; addresses, stamps and mails envelopes
and other mail; sorts and files checks, cash stubs, vouchers, requisitions
or other materials as required; occasionally operates varied types
of office machines and equipment; files papers, records correspondence,
memoranda and maps; answers the telephone and takes messages; checks
assigned reports, applications and other documents for correctness
and completeness; maintains established records and files as required;
and does related work in accordance with directions from superiors.
To be appointed to the position of Clerk Stenographer,
an individual must meet the following requirements:
A.
Possess formal or other education and training showing
attainment of level represented by matriculation from high school.
B.
Possess some knowledge of modern office methods, practices
and equipment, of performing routine, repetitive and noncomplex typing
work from varied types of copy and of taking and transcribing dictation
of limited complexity.
C.
Possess the ability to understand, remember and carry
out oral and written directions.
D.
Possess good health and freedom from disabling physical
and mental defects which would impair the proper performance of the
required duties or which might endanger the health and safety of oneself
or others.
