There is hereby created the position of Administrative
Secretary for the Township of Lacey.
The duties of the Administrative Secretary shall
include, but not be limited to:
A. Assisting a department head by performing administrative
stenographic and clerical work.
B. Under direction from the department head, supervising
his clerical work in the office.
C. Taking and transcribing dictation consisting of letters,
memoranda and statements of the most difficult, complex and technical
nature.
D. Assisting the department head in the formulation of
effective policies and procedures for the office and other clerical
operations of the department.
E. Preparing administrative correspondence, memoranda
and statements.
F. Performing related work as required.
To be appointed to the position of Administrative
Secretary, an individual must meet the following requirements:
A. Possess five years of full-time responsible experience
in the capacity of a secretary to an executive or administrative officer
in a public or private organization.
B. Possess a thorough knowledge of modern office methods,
practices and equipment.
C. Possess the ability to perform highly complex typing
and stenographic tasks.
D. Be capable of preparing and supervising the preparation
of statistical and other reports containing findings, conclusions
and recommendations, and have the capability to establish and maintain
records and files.
E. Possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand
or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the
position.
F. Possess the ability to comprehend established office
and other clerical and related routines and rules and regulations
of complexity in a relatively large organization.
G. Possess good health and freedom from disabling physical
and mental defects which would impair the proper performance of the
required duties or which might endanger the health and safety of oneself
or others. Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible
as long as they can perform the essential functions of the job after
reasonable accommodation is made to their known limitations. If the
accommodation cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue
hardship, such person may not be eligible.
