No person, firm or corporation shall install, construct or substantially alter or reconstruct any gas-burning furnace or equipment used or to be used for the purpose of heating any building or structure within the village unless a permit therefor is first issued by the Building Inspector or the Mayor of the village.[1] No such permit shall be granted unless a plan or assembly drawing shall be submitted, which shall show construction of the furnace and equipment and indicating its location in the building, all moving parts and gas and air passages and that installation and manufacture complies with the requirements of the New York State Construction Code and such other information as the Building Inspector may require. The person, firm or corporation making the installation or alteration shall deposit with the Village Clerk the sum of not less than $25 to guarantee compliance with the provisions of this chapter.

Editor's Note: By resolution adopted 12-8-1989, the Board of Trustees established a nonreturnable fee of $5 for a permit issued pursuant to this chapter.
Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $100 for each offense and shall, in addition thereto, be declared to be and be prosecuted as a disorderly person. Any construction in violation of the requirement of this chapter shall be immediately removed or remodeled to conform to the provisions hereof.
