[Adopted 3-2-1982 as Ch. XXI, Part 6, of the 1982 Code of Ordinances]
It shall not be lawful for any vendor of groceries, fruits or produce or any kind of foodstuffs or merchandise, except peddlers duly licensed or authorized and farmers, to store, display, exhibit or sell his said wares on the public highways in the Borough of Brentwood, including the sidewalk or cartway, or any portion thereof, or to make use of the sidewalk or cartway or any portion thereof, as a place for salesmen, clerks or customers, to stand while transacting business or in anywise to obstruct the sidewalk or cartway, or any portion thereof, and prevent the free use of the same by the general public.
It shall not be lawful to put or place any box, boxes, barrels, merchandise or other articles that may tend to obstruct the free use of any sidewalk upon any of the sidewalks within the limits of the Borough of Brentwood, except articles temporarily placed thereon for the purpose of loading or unloading, removing or storing away.
The provisions of this Article shall not apply to the sale, storage or display of newspapers or periodicals.

Any person who shall violate any provision of this Article shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $600 and costs of prosecution or, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than 30 days.
