The term of office of the elective Town Clerk of the Town of Beekman shall be four years. Such four-year term shall commence on the first day of January following the first biennial Town election after the effective date of this article.
At the biennial Town election next following the effective date of this article, and every four years thereafter, the Town Clerk shall be elected to a four-year term.
This article shall supersede in its application to the Town of Beekman § 24 of the Town Law of New York State with respect to the term of office of the elective Town Clerk.
This article shall be submitted for approval to the electors of the Town of Beekman at the next general Town election to be held on November 8, 2005.
Any other local law, ordinance or resolution inconsistent herewith is hereby repealed.
This article shall take effect immediately upon filing with the New York State Secretary of State after approval by a majority of the electors voting thereon in accordance with the requirements of § 27 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.[1]

The term of office of the Highway Superintendent shall be increased from two years to four years with the term of office commencing January 1, 2014, as set forth in Local Law No. 1 of 2013.
