The location of all bus stops, taxicab stands
and service zones shall be specified by vote of the City Council,
and in the case of taxicab stands, the Chief of Police, with the approval
of the City Council, shall designate who may use them as such.

Any person who willfully defaces, injures, moves,
obstructs or interferes with any official traffic sign, signal, street
sign or marking shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding $100 for
each and every offense.
No driver of any vehicle or of any streetcar
shall disobey the instructions of any official traffic control signal,
sign, marking, marker or legend unless otherwise directed by a police
officer.
No person or corporation shall place, maintain
or display upon or in view of any street any unofficial device, sign,
signals, curb marking or street marking which purports to be or is
an imitation of or resembles an official traffic device, sign, signal,
curb marking or street marking or which attempts to direct the movement
of traffic or which hides from view any official sign, signal, marking
or device. The Chief of Police is hereby empowered to remove every
such prohibited sign, signal, marking or device or cause it to be
removed without notice.
For the purpose of trial, the City Council may
make temporary rules regulating traffic or may test, under actual
conditions, traffic signs, markings or other devices. No such experimental
rules relating to traffic shall remain in effect for a period longer
than 30 days.

The City Council under the authority given under the provisions of MGL c. 90, § 18, may pass ordinances regulating speed limits upon ways and streets within the City and may order the erection of signs posting said limits. All requirements of said MGL c. 90, § 18, shall be met before the establishment of the speed regulation and the posting of said limits shall be effective. Violations shall be enforced under the provisions of MGL c. 90, §§ 17 and 20. The speed regulations and the location to which they apply are set forth in §
240-101 hereof.
