Unless the context clearly requires otherwise, the definitions in this section apply throughout §§
115-31 through
115-35 of this article.
ANIMAL CONTROL AUTHORITY
An entity acting alone or in concert with other local governmental
units for enforcement of the animal control law of the Township, county
and state and the shelter and welfare of animals.
ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER
Any individual employed, contracted with or appointed by
the Township for the purpose of aiding in the enforcement of this
article or any other law or ordinance relating to the licensure of
animals, control of animals or seizure and impoundment of animals.
OWNER
Any person, firm, corporation, organization or department
possessing, harboring, keeping, having an interest in or having control
or custody of an animal.
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DOG
Any dog declared potentially dangerous pursuant to the provisions
of N.J.S.A. 4:19-17 et seq. as amended.
VICIOUS DOG
Any dog declared vicious pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A.
4:19-17 et seq. as amended.
Any person who shall violate the provisions hereof shall, upon conviction by the Judge of the Municipal Court, be subject to the penalties as provided in Chapter
1, Article
II, General Penalty. Each instance where such person shall not comply with the provisions hereof shall be considered as a separate incident and subject to a separate prosecution, each day that the violation shall continue shall constitute a separate and distinct violation.
