A. 
No storage of flammable or combustible materials shall be permitted within any furnace or boiler room or in any mechanical or utility room which contains open-flame, heat-producing appliances.
B. 
Equipment room signs. All entry doors for equipment and utility rooms shall be provided with identification signs as approved by the Fire Official. These rooms shall include but not be limited to mechanical rooms, electrical and/or gas control rooms, sprinkler control rooms and fire alarm control panel rooms.
All gas- or oil-fired heating appliances shall be equipped with at least one remote emergency disconnect switch as required by the Fire Official.

A complete written record of all tests and inspections required by Chapter 5 of the Fire Prevention Code shall be maintained on the premises by the owner or occupant in charge of said premises, and copies of all such records shall be submitted to the Fire Official upon request. These records shall be on forms specified by the Fire Official.

Refuse containers shall not be located within 10 feet of any building, structure or structure overhang.
B. 
Exceptions shall be as follows:
(1) 
One- and two-family dwellings.
(2) 
Fully enclosed compactors fabricated of heavy metal.

Fire extinguishers shall be installed and maintained at all occupancies as required by standards of the National Fire Protection Association.
B. 
Exceptions shall be for dwelling units within one- and two-family dwellings.

A. 
Resetting fire alarm systems. Activated fire alarm systems which result in a Fire Prevention Department being dispatched to that location shall not be cleared or reset without approval from a responding Fire Prevention Department officer or fire inspector from the Department of Fire Prevention.
B. 
Silencing fire alarm systems. In other than one- or two-family dwellings, activated fire alarm systems shall not be silenced until it has been clearly determined by responsible on-site personnel that the system activation is not due to smoke or other fire conditions on the premises where the system is located.
A. 
Asphalt (tar) kettles shall not be used inside or on the roof of any structure and shall be located a safe distance from all structures and combustible materials while in operation. Every kettle shall be equipped with a tight-fitting cover. Fired asphalt (tar) kettles shall not be left unattended.
B. 
Fire protection. A minimum of one 20-B:C rated portable fire extinguisher shall be provided within 30 feet of each asphalt (tar) kettle while said kettle is in operation. A minimum of one additional 20-B:C rated portable fire extinguisher shall be located on the room being serviced by the operation. All site employees shall be adequately trained in the use of portable fire extinguishers.
A. 
Liquid propane gas tanks for modified bitumen system roofing operations shall be adequately chained to a cart or stand to prevent tanks from falling over. A minimum of a one-hour fire watch shall be maintained on each job site at the end of each work operation.
B. 
Fire protection. A minimum of one twenty-five-pound ABC portable fire extinguisher shall be provided for each torch on the job and shall be located in the immediate area where the torch is being operated. Each torch operator shall also carry a two- to three-pound ABC auxiliary portable fire extinguisher on a tool belt. All site employees shall be adequately trained in the use of portable fire extinguishers.
