A. 
The taxi license number shall be displayed on the center of the rear quarter panels of the driver and passenger sides of the car and the rear center line of the vehicle trunk.
B. 
The name of the municipality issuing the taxicab license shall be displayed on the rear door of the driver and passenger sides of the car.
C. 
Every taxicab so licensed shall have painted on both sides of the exterior of the vehicle the word "taxi," "cab" or "taxicab" or an electric sign affixed to the top of the motor vehicle in clear view from all sides bearing the word "taxi," "cab" or "taxicab." This provision shall not be applicable to limousines.
D. 
Violating this provision shall result in penalties assigned to the taxicab owner as provided in § 350-7. Any sworn law enforcement officer may enforce this section. Upon conviction in Municipal Court, the Township Clerk shall suspend the taxicab license for a period of up to 30 days. Three or more violations resulting in convictions shall result in the owner's taxicab license being revoked for one year.
A. 
No person shall park any taxicab on any of the streets of the Township at any time except at such place or places as the Council may from time to time designate as municipal taxi stands.
B. 
No taxicab shall stand at the curb within 15 feet of the entrance to any railroad station, theater, hotel, restaurant or other public place, and it shall not stand within 25 feet of any crosswalk or fire hydrant.
C. 
Violating this provision shall result in penalties assigned to the taxicab driver as provided in § 350-7. Any sworn law enforcement officer may enforce this section. Upon conviction in Municipal Court, the Township Clerk may suspend the taxicab license of the driver for a period of up to 30 days.
A. 
The owner of a taxicab shall operate his/her taxicab or cause to have it operated and on duty available to the public a minimum of 40 hours each week.
B. 
Violating this provision may result in the Township Clerk suspending the owner's taxicab license for a period of seven to 30 days.

No person shall cruise on the streets of the Township with any taxicab at any time for the purpose of soliciting passengers.
B. 
Violating this provision shall result in a fine assigned to the taxicab driver as provided in § 350-7. Any sworn law enforcement officer may enforce this section. Upon conviction in Municipal Court, the Township Clerk may suspend the taxicab license of the driver for a period of up to 30 days.
A. 
No licensee shall suffer or permit persons to loiter in or about his taxicab while on duty.
B. 
No licensee shall solicit business by means of outcry or hawking.
C. 
No licensee shall solicit the patronage of nor in any manner interfere with persons alighting from a public bus.
D. 
Violating this provision shall result in penalties assigned to the taxicab driver as provided in § 350-7. Any sworn law enforcement officer may enforce this section. Upon conviction in Municipal Court, the Township Clerk may suspend the taxicab license of the driver for a period of up to 30 days.
A. 
Inspection.
(1) 
The owner and operator of each taxicab operating in the Township shall keep the vehicle in good running order so that it makes a positive presentable appearance, and affords safe and comfortable rides to passengers. The owner, or designee, shall present the taxicab annually for inspection to the Chief of Police, or designated officer, prior to the issuance or renewal of the license. This inspection will determine if the vehicle complies with the provisions of this chapter. Inspection results shall be recorded using an inspection form. A copy will be given to the owner or designee, and must be kept within the vehicle for presentation to the Chief of Police or designee, or the Township Clerk or designee.
(2) 
The Township Clerk shall deny the taxicab owner's license if the vehicle has not been presented for inspection to the Chief of Police or designee. If the vehicle has been presented to the Chief of Police or designee, but the inspection report has not been kept with the vehicle, then the Township Clerk may suspend the taxicab owner's license for the vehicle in violation for a period up to 30 days. This chapter may be enforced by the Chief of Police or designee, or the Township Clerk or designee.
B. 
Reinspection.
(1) 
At the time of inspection, if the inspecting officer observes a vehicle defect, safety defect or mechanical defect, which is in violation of Chapter 3 of Title 39, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Code, such officer shall fail the vehicle and require repairs be made before a Township reinspection. The office may also order that the vehicle be reinspected by the New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), or a DMV-approved private inspection facility to ensure it meets their operating and maintenance standards. Repairs and a DMV reinspection must occur within 14 days of the failure. The failed vehicle must be reinspected by the Chief of Police or designee before going back into service. During the period of failure, the vehicle shall not be used to transport passengers.
(2) 
Violating this provision shall result in penalties as provided in § 350-7. Any sworn law enforcement officer may enforce this section. Upon conviction in Municipal Court, the Township Clerk shall suspend the taxicab license for a period of 15 to 60 days. Three or more violations shall result in the taxicab license being suspended for one year.
C. 
Stickers.
(1) 
Upon passing the required Township inspection, taxicabs shall have a sticker affixed to their rear bumper, which will conspicuously indicate the year of successful inspection, and which must remain affixed during the license period. The Township Chief of Police or his designee shall determine the size, shape and color of this sticker.
(2) 
Violating this provision shall result in a penalty assigned to the taxicab owner as provided in § 350-7. Any sworn law enforcement officer may enforce this section. Upon conviction in Municipal Court, the Township Clerk may suspend the taxicab license for a period of seven to 30 days.
Vehicles used as taxicabs within the Township shall have at least one door on each side of the vehicle for passenger use and a separate door for driver use.
A. 
Posting of fares required.
(1) 
No taxicab shall hereafter be operated in the Township unless and until there is prominently displayed in the interior thereof within the full view and access of any passenger therein a complete list of fares, charges or tariff rates charged for transportation of passengers, which fares, charges or tariff rates so displayed, and no other, shall be charged any passengers to be transported.
(2) 
Violating this provision shall result in penalties assigned to the taxicab driver as provided in § 350-7. Any sworn law enforcement officer may enforce this section. Upon conviction in Municipal Court, the Township Clerk may suspend the taxicab driver's license for a period of seven to 30 days.
B. 
Taxicab owners shall also file with the Township Clerk a notarized statement of current fare rates. Any changes in such rates must be filed with the Township Clerk 30 days prior to the effective date of any change. Any fares charged in excess of the filed rates shall be cause for license suspension.
C. 
Maximum rates; meters. The Council shall have the right by resolution to set a maximum rate of fare which may be charged for one passenger from place to place anywhere within the limits of the Township which may, at the discretion of the Council, be established on a zone basis.
D. 
Advance payment; refusal to carry. Any taxicab owner or driver shall have the right to demand payment of the legal fare in advance of transporting any passengers, and such owner or driver also has the right to refuse to transport a disorderly or unruly person.
A. 
The owner of each taxicab so licensed shall keep or cause to be kept written daily record of each trip made by the taxicab showing the date, time and place the cab was engaged, the place and time of the discharge of the passenger, the number of passengers carried, the fare received, distance traveled, and the taxicab driver's license number of the person driving the cab on the trip. Such records shall be kept in a place that is convenient for a properly authorized representative of the Township to inspect the same, and the owner shall give his full cooperation in expediting such inspection. There shall also be reported to the Township Clerk or other official as the Clerk shall designate the happening of an accident involving such taxicab or the loss of property left in the taxicab by a passenger within 24 hours after such event. Within three business days of any accident, the taxicab owner shall contact the Township inspecting officer for reinspection of the vehicle. The inspecting officer may at his discretion order a reinspection by an approved New Jersey DMV inspection facility.
B. 
Violating any of these provisions shall result in a penalty assigned to the taxicab owner as provided in § 350-7. The Chief of Police or designee, or Township Clerk or designee may enforce this chapter. Upon conviction in Municipal Court, the Township Clerk may suspend the taxicab owner's license for a period of seven to 30 days.
A. 
The operator of each taxicab shall at all times have available a suitable cash receipt book to write out, sign and give to any passenger requesting the same a written receipt in the amount of the fare paid.
B. 
Violating this provision shall result in a penalty assigned to the taxicab driver as provided in § 350-7. Any sworn law enforcement officer may enforce this section. Upon conviction in Municipal Court, the Township Clerk may suspend the taxicab driver's license for a period of seven to 30 days.
A. 
The operator of each taxicab shall permit no other person to occupy the front seat of the taxicab, unless the rear seat is fully occupied by passengers while the taxicab is on duty.
B. 
The operator of each taxicab shall limit the use of his vehicle on each trip to the services of the first passenger engaging the same, unless he shall request and obtain the permission from the first passenger to pick up additional passengers who may share the use thereof.
C. 
Violating this provision shall result in a penalty assigned to the taxicab driver as provided in § 350-7. Any sworn law enforcement officer may enforce this section. Upon conviction in Municipal Court, the Township Clerk may suspend the taxicab driver's license for a period of seven to 30 days.
