Section 24 of Article 3 of the Town Law of the State of New York, adopted
by Chapter 812 of the Laws of 1935, as last amended by Chapter 534 of the
Laws of 1961, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph thereto:
Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this section
and the provisions of Subdivision six of Section twenty of this chapter, the
term of office of the Town Clerk and the Town Superintendent of Highways in
the Town of Monroe shall be four years.

This law shall take effect only upon its approval by the affirmative
vote of a majority of the qualified electors of the Town of Monroe voting
upon the proposition therefor submitted to them at the general election to
be held on November 3, 1970.

In its application to the Town of Monroe, § 24 of the Town
Law is hereby amended to provide that the term of office of Supervisor shall
be for four years.
This Article shall not take effect until its approval by the affirmative
vote of a majority of qualified electors of the Town of Monroe voting upon
the proposition therefor submitted to them on November 6, 1984, and if so
approved, shall not be applicable until the Supervisor term commencing January
1, 1986.
