This article shall be known as "An Ordinance Fixing Fees for
Building Permits of 1972."
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
ESTIMATED COST
The current value of all services, labor, materials, construction
equipment, rental and service equipment installations, but not including
costs of such grading, decorating or other work as is intended primarily
for appearance or embellishment and which is not necessary for the
safe and lawful use of the building or structure.
PERSON
Includes one or more natural persons of either sex, corporations,
partnerships, associations, joint-stock companies, societies and all
other entities of any kind capable of being sued, including their
agents, excepting the United States of America, State of New York
and municipal corporations.

Any person who proposes to erect or structurally alter any building
or structure within the City, whether interior or exterior, shall
be required to first obtain a building permit duly issued upon application
to the Director of Public Works. Said application shall be made upon
forms and shall contain the information required by the Director of
Public Works, which shall include but not be limited to the estimated
cost of the work to be done and the Westchester County license number
for each contractor proposed to be utilized. At the time of the filing
of the application, the applicant shall pay the fee in the amount
as set forth in the Consolidated Fee Schedule maintained by the office
of the City Clerk.

The Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to prepare
and from time to time amend a Building Permit Square Foot Work Sheet,
subject to review and approval of the City Manager after consultation
with the Common Council, for determination of fees to be charged for
the issuance of building permits on a square-foot basis. The prescribed
fees for a building permit for any building, addition, alteration,
demolition of an existing structure, temporary construction and erection
of fire escapes or signs shall be determined by the Director of Public
Works as per the City of Peekskill Square Foot Work Sheet and shall
be set forth in the Consolidated Fee Schedule maintained by the office
of the City Clerk.
A. The building permit fee shall be tripled for any person who erects or alters any building or structure without first obtaining a building permit in accordance with §§
575-49 and
275-11 and such alteration is not listed on any certificate of occupancy issued after January 1, 2006.
When no construction has been started within six months after
the granting of a building permit, a renewal of such building permit
shall be required, for which the fee shall be set forth in the Consolidated
Fee Schedule maintained by the office of the City Clerk.
Any person violating this article shall, upon conviction, be
punishable by a fine of not less than $100 and not more than $1,000
or imprisonment not exceeding 10 days, or both such fine and imprisonment.
